FAQ & troubleshooting
Quick answers to common questions, and fixes for the things that occasionally go wrong.
General
Do I still need Grim?
Yes. Warden AC is a layer on top of Grim, not a replacement. Grim does the detection; Warden AC gives you the dashboard to see and act on it. Grim is free and open on GitHub.
Is the plugin free?
The plugin is free and open. You pay for the hosted dashboard and backend that it connects to.
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
Your server runs a modern Paper build (Java 21), while players can join from 1.8 to 1.21 through ViaVersion. See How it works.
Can one account run several networks?
For now an account is either an owner of one network or a member of one. Use a separate account if you need both roles. See Team & permissions.
Plugin won't connect
My server doesn't show up in the dashboard.
Check that
server-key in plugins/WardenAC/config.yml is your exact network key, that the server can reach backend.wardenac.com over outbound WebSocket/HTTPS, and that your plan still has room for another server. Restart the server after any config change and watch the console for Warden AC lines on startup. It says the server limit is reached.
You've connected as many servers as your plan allows. Upgrade from the billing portal (Billing, or Change plan in Settings) and the new server will be accepted.
The map
The live map is empty.
The map only samples loaded chunks around online players, and the network-wide view asks you to pick a specific server first. Select a server and make sure players are online; give it a few seconds to sample. In the Nether the plugin looks for the floor around your players, so move around if a spot looks blank.
Emails
I didn't get the verification, reset or invite email.
Check spam first. Verification and login emails come from your Warden AC account; invite emails are sent when you invite someone. Resend buttons have a short cooldown to prevent spam. If it still doesn't arrive, confirm the address is correct and try again in a minute.
A teammate's invite still says pending.
The badge flips to active once they finish creating their account with the invited email. If they signed up with a different email, invite that address instead, or re-invite the correct one.
Billing
I cancelled — do I lose access right away?
No. You keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for, then it ends. See Billing & plans.
My payment failed.
You keep access during a short grace period while Stripe retries your card. Use the banner in the dashboard (or the Billing button) to update your payment method.
Still stuck?
